8hands featured flickr stream: Lynn K

The beautiful stream of Belgian Lynn K is a site to see. Visions of a life, it is tight, well edited, and, as one commentator put it, the work of a master.

Fragments and close ups, beauty in revulsion, Interspersed with drawings, Lynn's photos display her world in fragments.

There are some streams that need to be talked about less, and simply viewed more. This, my friends, is one of them. Enjoy...

8hands featured interview: George Pringle

Not long ago, we said that Pringle will be bigger than Google. Until it happens, we grabbed her for a chat and discovered a talkative and recluse girl that dreams of being an organ philanthropist and hates Windows. Don’t worry Georgina – we are in the process of making a Mac version of 8hands, and it will be as amazing as you!

You know how we feel about George Pringle – if you don’t, feel free to click here and read all about it. Today, we won’t talk too much and we’ll let Pringle spread her charm around, because as you’ll soon find out, she is very good at that.

8hands featured finding: The Brokerdealer

Craig Finn is a god. Seriously. When I’m in my adoring mood (as I am at this moment) I can honestly say that he is the best writer of the decade. The lyrics that he delivers in the Hold Steady albums & b-sides are phenomenal, and his previous work with Lifter Puller is also nothing to sneeze at.

8hands featured videos: Joshua Allen Harris' Air Zoo

Maya just send me something too good to leave in the 8hands offices and not pass along... The Wooster Collective recently posted pics of Joshua Allen Harris' inflatable bear, and now they've raised the bar and put up videos.

air zoo

Harris takes plastic bags, transforms them into animal shapes, and ties them to subway grates in New York City. Just watch what happens when a train passes by (and how few people seem to take notice). Is it just me, or are we living in a golden age of street art? Enjoy...

8hands featured flickr stream: dan banda lee

When we decided to add flickr streams to the Caught 8handed blog, Dan Banda Lee was one of the first people I thought to feature. A few months have gone by, and today seems like the perfect time to feature his intimate stream. I have to admit I have the softest spot for the kind of work that Dan Banda Lee presents. Taking us in on the most personal level, we see the evolution of a life, from the first photos that he took of his wife, to their new baby, to their kids, to some of the best christmas cards I've ever seen - all taken with a sense of humor, honesty and style. Oh, and he shoots tons of great band portraits, like the Pipettes and Fujiya and Miyagi. Definitely a flickr stream that always keeps it on the real... Enjoy.

8hands featured flickr stream: ward_zwart

You can now add the Belgian ward_zwart to your list of underground-talent-that-you-can-tell-your-friends-you-knew-back-when-they- were-sweet-young-things-on-flickr-and-could-buy-their-work-for-$16. The kid works hard, churning out limited edition books of his portraits, flyers, illustrations for Bolshoi Gorod, Moscow's weekly city newspaper (I'd love to hear how that connection came about!), skateboards, and of course, the de rigueur tote bag and t-shirts. And he has that scratched out sketched out look down! Definitely worth a journey through his stream. Enjoy...

8hands featured recommendation: Headlamp

Rock music has always been associated with electric guitars. that's why I found Headlamp to be a very courageous and extremely interesting band. You see, Chuck Criss, the main man behind Headlamp, decided to make a rock album without the use of an electric guitar.

Instead he simply recorded banjo, acoustic guitar, piano, bass, and drums which sounds great altogether. Without the presence of an electric guitar, the tunes are much more piano driven, which is always a good thing for piano suckers like me.

HEADLAMP

Criss and the rest aren't signed yet, but that doesn't stop them from working hard and preforming all over Manhattan. Their upcoming show will take place this friday at Piano's. Here's a sample of what you should expect to:

8hands featured flickr stream: fjordscape

Glimpses, just glimpses of a life. Fjordscape's stream gives us moments: food just prepared or eaten, a cat lounging around the house, a walk in the forest,  sheets just used. People occupy this space too, but are never with us. Quite the opposite, they always seem to have just looked away, or are not even aware that we're watching them.

Beautiful and a bit unnerving, it is truly a voyeur's paradise. Enjoy...

8hands featured show: Epicly Later'd

Since the first episode I caught on Dustin Dollin, I have been completely obsessed with Patrick O'Dell's self professed "nerdy skateboard show" on VBS, Epicly Laterd. Seriously. I think it's one of the only RSS feeds that I am religious about checking. Before the show, my skateboarding knowledge was basically limited to two movies about the Dogtown boys and the doc on Gator. That's about it. Didn't know a frontside from a backside from a noseflip.

8hands featured video: I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You

The best song of 2007 finally got a video of his own. We don't have much to say about it, except for the fact that we can't wait for the Black Kids' full length album. So... DANCE DANCE DANCE!

Edit: Alice just sent me a link to Kate Nash's cover of this song. Listen to the massacre.
