Glimpses, just glimpses of a life. Fjordscape's stream gives us moments: food just prepared or eaten, a cat lounging around the house, a walk in the forest,  sheets just used. People occupy this space too, but are never with us. Quite the opposite, they always seem to have just looked away, or are not even aware that we're watching them.

 

Beautiful and a bit unnerving, it is truly a voyeur's paradise. Enjoy...

In continuation of my Gorilla vs. Bear post, I'd like to dedicate another post to a soon to be lost gem, polaroid film. Now, I have to admit, I'm not much of a polaroid user (more of a 120 holga girl now) but I'm shocked nonetheless. It is a sad sad time, and maybe I'm most scared because film may be the next to follow.

 

So, in honor of the untimely announcement that Polaroid will stop producing their legendary film, we will feature people that take polaroids to a whole other level.

 

One such person is Lou O'Bedlam. He shoots perty girls and hip boys on polaroid film, lending the look an even further intimacy. His 120 shots are also great, so I had to include them as well. Unfortunately, that will be all he's left with soon... Enjoy.

Tedementa!! Wow, who are you!?!? I see you make tote-bags and pillowcases and t-shirts and love your arts and crafts. You're from Argentina, right? You seem to be in a lot of exhibits and turn your whole world into your vision. Your friends look cool, and I love how they don't mind becoming triangles and circles and rainbows and pinetrees. Everything you do just has that little bit more, from your doodles to your collages to your self portraits with drawn in friends. I guess in the end, this is just a fan letter to you, dear tedementa, whoever you may be!

As I wrote in my last post, Flickr streams come in all shapes and sizes and every once in a while, you come across a super duper super tight super themed stream. So I figured, what better way to follow up than to show you one of these streams today.

 

Cabinet de fumisterie appliquée are two women giving it to us short and sweet Cindy Sherman style. Beautifully composed, their images have an element of fetish combined with that oh-so-ironic sense of humor. I guess. Don't know. I just like them. It looks like they meet up every Sunday afternoon and play with their big dress up box. Me thinks that François Coquerel, featured in a past Caught 8handed, took some of these photos. Enjoy...

Flickr streams usually come in a few forms. There are the snapshot streams, the portfolio sites, the open sketchbooks, the historical resource sets, and every once in a while you get to those super tight themed streams. I'm going to put the SWAMPDONKEY in that category.

 

Ok, I have to admit that the SWAMPDONKEY's stream is not completely single minded and has a somewhat varied stream of photos and illustrations. But there is one element that keeps coming up in his work: a half skull with horns and tusks. What I love about the SWAMPDONKEY is that he consistently portrays this beast and yet constantly varies its portrayal. He has T-shirt desgins, tattoos, graffiti, modified photos, rough sketches, and clean computerized illustrations of this skull. I've never seen someone riff on one theme in such a surprising yet dedicated way. Gotta give it up to the SWAMPDONKEY - may we all have such focus in our lives! Enjoy...
