I have a rule. And I think it's the only fair thing to do. If I write about a person, then I'll go through their entire stream, choose my favorite pics, and then write a review. Well, I had that rule until I encountered party monster extraordinaire billa.... The boy has 872 pages of pics - with 15,687 photos and counting. I'm at around page 75 right now - and I've only gotten to December 2007.

 

I'm a sucker for party photos, with a special place in my heart lately for the London scene, and billa....'s pics just hit the spot. His shots are jam packed with characters (Scottee! Agness! Casette!) in a style that is hyper saturated and hyper sharp. His output is unbelievable; so before he burns his party out, let's enjoy billa....'s pics and his historic documentation of a scene on fire.

Don't get me wrong. I love to peak into the cobrasnake, misshapes (in its glory), dirty dirty dancing, and last night's party to see what's up like the rest of 'em. But I'm a lo-fi girl in a digital age, and I have to give props to robin_bharaj.

 

 

He's been going around London, documenting the current (and let's just say it now for the record, historic) nightlife in glorious medium format. We're bombarded daily with 1000s of digi shots of any kind of party imaginable (hello, facebook!). But, shot on film with a dope camera and perfect studio-like lighting, these shots look almost surreal. Overall, a much welcome development to the party picture genre...Enjoy.

Last June, I had a 10 hours to kill during a layover in London. I decided to go on a treasure hunt and purchase that one (affordable) item that captured the 1989 feeling in the air. I found a Super Super magazine, and my first introduction to the British illustrator, Kate Moross. Since the summer she's been popping up everywhere - from WGSN to Vogue. But luckily for us little people can, Kate has a flickr stream that features all of her fliers, projects, t-shirts, photos and self-portraits (my personal faves). Definitely defining dat London style…enjoy.
