8hands Featured Artists: Resplendent/Downey
It’s no secret, Free stuff is the best. That’s one of the things that make 8hands so sweet & tasty. Errrr… that’s what makes web 2.0 so unbelievably delicious – millions of media files – videos, songs, photos, texts - at most cases, they are all free to grab.
Still, it’s not so common to find artists that put an entire album or EP on the web, without even printing it. It happens, but not as often as we please. That’s why every time something like that happens, we feel the need to embrace the generous artist, and when the release is outstanding & beautiful, we just can’t stop our joy.
“Respondent” is a free mp3 EP. You can download it and even get printable covers inside the zip file. Beside that wonderful fact, the EP consist great three songs, that I wouldn’t mind paying for. “Respondent EP” is a project by Resplendent/Downey, which is basically Mike Downey's reworks (edits, remixes) of 3 previously unreleased Resplendent songs.
Don’t Know who that is? Let me copy/paste his short bio from the project’s webpage: “Michael Lenzi played drums and sang in the Chicago group Number One Cup. He later went on to front The Fire Show and then release a series of EPs and a full length under the name Resplendent”.
The new reworks are almost perfect. They have a little bit of “Kid A” in them, and a lot of “Postal Service” influences. It’s nothing you haven’t heard before, but still, you are drowned into the lovely melodies & the graceful lyrics. Check it out – it’s free!
