Introducing 8hands Mobile!

We at 8hands live and breathe social networks. We take them seriously, we treat them carefully and we know what social networks users want. Well, actually it will be more honest to say we know what WE want to get from our social networks, and we put a lot of effort building it:

We want to always stay in the know, but we definitely don't want to waste too much time doing it, 'cause… you know… we’ve got some other stuff we have to do… So we created 8hands Mobile!

8hands Mobile is not just 8hands-on-your-phone. It provides a truly unique mobile experience with a dedicated mobile interface which will keep you up-to-date on all that's going on in all your social networks, focusing on events and friends, designed for the 8hander who's on-the-go, and includes some new cool mobile-only features.

Another cool thing is that it is completely FREE! We’re really excited to invite you to take 8hands Mobile for a ride. We're currently supporting a limited set of devices, but we'll keep rolling out some more so stay tuned. If your device is not yet listed please email us with a device you'd like to be supported.

Here are some unique features that make 8hands Mobile the best tool to stay in the know, wherever you go:

Real time notifications:
8hands Mobile saves you time while you're away from your computer and allows you to get real time notifications from your various social networks. 8hands Mobile even updates itself while running so you always see your latest content.

Call and text other 8hands mobile users:
8hands Mobile also allows you to reply to events from your other 8hands friends, directly from your mobile. You can even call your 8hands friends if 8hands detects that their number is already listed in your phonebook. For now, replying is limited to 8hands users, but soon we'll allow you reply back directly to your favorite social networks so you can text friends even if they don't yet have 8hands Mobile.

Know who your true friends are:

If you're already an 8hands Desktop user, you are familiar with our "Top Friends" mechanism which lets you know which of your friends are the dearest by calculating with whom you interact most. On the mobile, the "Top Friends" tab becomes a "social speed dial" so you can access your true top friends quickly, and if they are 8hands users, you can of course text or call them on the spot!

Alpha 0.9.124: A new and significantly faster 8hands version!

We got several feedbacks from our adorable users with complaints about 8hands' RAM and CPU usage. We realized that 8hands was a bit heavy for some machines, and we knew we had to fix it – after all, 8hands is here to make your life better, not to make your computer slower.

After a few months of hard work (seriously, our developers have lost a lot of weight), we can finally announce that 8hands' new architecture will help 8hands manage your online social life much more efficiently while consuming significantly less resources from your machine.

This version is by far the most stablest, fastestest and lightestestest 8hands ever. Check it!

We've also made a tiny, but significant change in terminology: From now on, don’t say “Locations” - say “Sources”! Apparently, “Locations” was a bit confusing for some users, so we decided to make it clearer.

Download the new version and please keep on sending us your feedbacks! As you can see, they are helping us make 8hands better & better.

One of the benefits of having 8hands is the privilege to stop receiving email notifications from your various online profiles. In other words, when you use 8hands, your mail account will stay clean and neat (I'm sure all you massive social network users know exactly how annoying all these emails can be).

So, once you start using 8hands, you can go and uncheck all those "send me email notifications" boxes and go back to using your mail account for emails.
